Who created this message? The marketing team for Who Gives a Crap company - 3 product designers who want to help sanitation in developing countries through selling more environmentally friendly toilet products.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention? Their name is really the attention grabber. They started out doing an IndiGogo campaign, which shows them all on toilets and using potty humor, which also grabs the users attention. One of the guys also did a live stream video of him sitting on a toilet until they made the goal of $50,000 to start their production.

How might different people understand this message differently than me? All their ads are targeting people who 1)have a bit of disposable income and/or 2)care about the environment and/or 3)have a soft spot in their heart for saving the less fortunate and 4)people how like potty humor. Some people who don't like potty humor may be offended by the ads and even the name of their product. It's possible that someone from a developing country may also be offended, as it is aimed to help them.

What values, lifestyles and points of view are represented in, or omitted from, this message? As previously stated, this is targeting a specific niche of people with money who are socially & environmentally conscious. What is omitted are people who can't afford to spend this kind of money on toilet paper.

Why is this message being sent? To convince me to spend over three times the amount of money on toilet paper so I can be more eco conscious and help develop sanitation systems in developing countries.
