Spread the WORD with FRIENDS - Weight Lose Gummies NOT ENDORSED by Oprah

Visual Analysis -

Most of the time I play Words with Friends with my cell phone audio off.  I'm bombarded with images of over weight women who magically turn into slim and trim supermodels.  The ads flash images and text so quickly it is hard absorb all the information.  At one point a picture of Oprah Winfrey is shown - seemingly as an endorsement of the product.  With very little research I was able to confirm that Oprah Winfrey does not endorse this or any weight lose pill/gummy.  She warns consumers to not be fooled by predatory ads that use her image. (CNN Entertainment - Article)  Additional Shark Tank personalities are flashed throughout the ad.  They too have come out against the claim that they endorse the product. (USA Today Article).  The image above is a screen shot of the final image.  It shows a large bottle of the product and 6 health benefiting claims.

Audio Analysis -

*** I had to laugh.  One of my biggest gripes when playing Words with Friends is the fact that I have to watch this ad and other weight lose ads in between every word I play.  Of course as I was trying to complete this assignment this ad did not come up.  So for the time being I will leave the audio analysis blank and hopefully return to it later in the week. ***

Authorship - I was not able to find a mother company for this product.

Format - This ad uses a bombardment or images so that even if you do not have the audio you are overloaded with stimuli.  They're hope is that you are exposed to so much information at one time that you do not have the time to process it appropriately and accurately.

Audience - I am definitely the target audience for this product.  A women of childbearing years who would love to have their pre-partum body back.

Content - This ad makes me feel like I should value 3 things; my appearance, a healthy lifestyle, and the opinion/endorsement of celebrities.  It does not highlight the actual hard work and healthy choices it takes to lose weight.

Purpose - The sole purpose for this ad is to sell a product by body shaming women, exploiting TV personalities, and making false claims.
