Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

This song was written by Shania Twain and her then-husband Robert Lange in the late 1990's. It was performed by Shania Twain and produced by Lange and released on her album Come on Over in March 1999. It easily becaome both a massive hit and an anthem for many women all around the world in no time.

The lyrics alone are both catchy and upbeat and when you accompany the instruments and chorus, you've got a full on anthem that women everywhere can sing and shout to as they gear up for a fun evening or a night out with the girls. When you're watching the music video, you see a strong woman dressed in a top hat and a long coat surrounded by buff men. She later strips down to a black corset, mini skirt, and thigh high boots showing off her more feminine side. The black, white, and red colors along with the seductive transitions can easily attract the attention of many viewers.

For some people, this may be exactly their cup of tea when it comes to music and songs to sing along to. It screams female empowerment and has a catchy tune to it. Women may be able to relate to its lyrics and message more than men, but then again everyone has their own unique music taste and genres that they like to stick to. The song itself doesn't have any truly deep meanings to it, but rather just sends the message that women like to let loose and have a little fun sometimes.

In researching this song a little more, I learned that Shania Twain got her inspiration for this song from her experience working at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario after her parents died in a car crash and she needed money to support her siblings. At the resort, many drag queens performed there and it fueled her inspiration to write this song. So not only does the song have a strong feminine perspective to it, but also might be viewed as having an LGBTQ empowerment as well. I think Twain wrote this song for fun and it has lasted the test of time as it can now be considered a classic country pop song.

Lyrics (pulled from Google):

Let's go girls
C'mon

I'm goin' out tonight, I'm feelin' alright
Gonna let it all hang out
Wanna make some noise, really raise my voice
Yeah, I wanna scream and shout, uh

No inhibitions, make no conditions
Get a little outta line
I ain't gonna act politically correct
I only wanna have a good time

The best thing about bein' a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun and

Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy, forget I'm a lady
Men's shirts, short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild, yeah, doin' it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in the action, feel the attraction
Color my hair, do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free, yeah, to feel the way I feel
Man, I feel like a woman (hey!)

The girls need a break, tonight we're gonna take
The chance to get out on the town
We don't need romance, we only wanna dance
We're gonna let our hair hang down

The best thing about bein' a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun and

Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy, forget I'm a lady
Men's shirts, short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild, yeah, doin' it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in the action, feel the attraction
Color my hair, do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free, yeah, to feel the way I feel
Man, I feel like a woman
Uh, huh

Oh, yeah
The best thing about bein' a woman
Is the prerogative to have a little fun, fun, fun

Oh, oh, oh, go totally crazy, forget I'm a lady
Men's shirts, short skirts
Oh, oh, oh, really go wild, yeah, doin' it in style
Oh, oh, oh, get in the action, feel the attraction
Color my hair, do what I dare
Oh, oh, oh, I wanna be free yeah, to feel the way I feel
(The way I feel)
Man, I feel like a woman

Hey!
Oh, oh, yeah, yeah
Act totally crazy
Can you feel it?
Come, come, come on baby
I feel like a woman
