Who created this message?

This advertisement and message was put together by the Australian Human Rights Commission. The intent of the message, I believe, is to show the public different points of view of what racism is and whether or not you have been subjected to racism.

What creative techniques are used to attract my attention?

Different perspectives from different people are asked about racism issues: being stopped by the police, athletes after games, names on job applications, and so on. It made me think, "have I ever been subjected to racism?" I would have to say no. I have never thought the color of my skin had anything to do with any situation I have ever encountered. Am I naive?

How might different people interpret this message differently than me?

I guess people could say that racism does not exist but I think ad is just trying to get the point across that in everyday occurrences, certain people are subjected to racism while others are not. We hear comedians talk about this and make light of it, but it would be terrifying I think.

What viewpoints or world views are included or left out of this message?

Racism is discussed with several races. All interviewees are asked the same questions and it clearly shows that the white people do not have the same experiences as others.

Why is this message being sent?

The message is being sent that racism still exists and is something we should be paying attention to.
